Common Sense Tips for String Instruments

•   How do you measure your child for the size of violin or viola they need? We make it easy. Stretch out their arm and measure from the neck to the end of their fingers. We then can let you know the correct size.

•   For Beginners we recommend the Palatino products. We have never had any problems with this instrument line. We also carry other Brands according to our high standards.

•   Never bring your old (and maybe very expensive), handed down for generations, violin to school. Keep a beginner instrument at school and use the other one at home.

•   Never, never leave the instrument in a hot car!

•   Never forget to release the tension on your bow after practice or concert.

•   Never touch the bow hair or the strings at the area where you stroke the bow (up 3” from the bridge).

•   Never try to tune your instrument as a beginner. Leave that up to your teacher.

•   Don’t mix up the tuning pegs. Each one belongs in it’s designated hole.

•   Use a soft towel to clean your instrument from rosin dust and fingerprints.

•   Always keep your instrument away from siblings, friends or pets.

•   Invest in a music stand and a wall hanger.

•   Keep your bow in the designated area in the case or it will bend.

•   Keep your music books out of the case.
