Having a passion for music instruments does not necessarily make you a good technician.
Many components have to come together. For instance, having the ability for problem solving, love of details, clean workmanship and the knowledge about materials and chemicals that will be used. You must have the right tools and know how to use them.

Using all the tricks of the trade, but never short cuts, and the ability to play or test the repaired instrument is a must. All this and many years of experience is truly a gift, which all comes together to make a good technician.
