• Our Services • Cleaning and Maintenance •

If you have your own or a rental instrument, none of them are self maintaining or self cleaning. We will maintain your Rental Instrument, but some is up to you. When ever we get our hands on it, we will do a complete job of cleaning and maintenance, with no cost to you. We recommend this every semester.

In-between our service, you may use a moist paper towel to clean the outside from fingerprints and water marks (spit). Fingerprints and saliva are acidy and will destroy, in the long run, the finish of your instrument. Be careful, you may break, bend or loosen springs. Most keys have small cork pads to keep it quiet or for the mechanism.

Be very careful, they are very easy to break off.

For maintenance of your brass instrument, use valve oil and slide grease or your slides will freeze up.

For your woodwinds, we recommend only cork grease for the joints.
Do not use the oil you find in your maintenance kit. Keep it simple. Wiping it too much can also destroy the pads. The flutes need no oil. This is the job of a technician.

However, keep the joints as clean as possible, no oil or grease.
